Day 426 - Welcome to Costa Rica
We’ve only ridden 15 minutes into the country, but we already get a nice taste of the beautiful nature Costa Rica has to offer. We’re camping at a small nature Lodge of a swiss couple that found their new home here.
Huge crooked trees tower over the territory right on the Sapoa river, home to tons of monkeys and birds. A whole horde of spider monkeys rampage through the treetops. During breakfast we hear splashing of water right next to us and suspect the rain that held up well during the night, is finally coming. But looking up into the tree we saw a small monkey sitting on a big branch peeing! Not sure if he wanted to hit us but if so I’m grateful for his inaccuracy.
A lone crocodile resides in the river and luckily he was home today. Our first croc on this trip. When we first got here I was contemplating a refreshing dip into the river. I think I have to reconsider that.

Tag 426 - Willkommen in Costa Rica
Wir sind gerade mal 15 Minuten weit ins Land reingefahren, aber das reicht schon für einen ersten Vorgeschmack auf die wahnsinnig tolle Natur die das Land zu bieten hat. Wir campen bei zwei Schweizern die hier ihr neues Zuhause gefunden haben und eine kleine Lodge betreiben.
Riesige verwundene Bäume ragen über das Gelände direkt am Sapoa Fluß. Ein Haufen Affen und Vögel tummeln sich in den Bäumen. Eine ganze Horde Klammeraffen tobt durch die Baumwipfel. Beim Frühstück hören wir ein Plätschern direkt neben uns und befürchten, dass es nun doch noch anfängt zu regnen, nachdem es die ganze Nacht trocken war. Aber ein Blick nach oben erklärt alles. Ein kleines Äffchen sitzt auf einem dicken Ast und pinkelt runter. Falls er vor hatte uns zu erwischen bin ich sehr dankbar für seine Treffungenauigkeit.
Im Fluss residiert ein einzelnes Krokodil, das zum Glück auch gerade zu Hause ist. Unser erstes Kroko auf dieser Reise. Als wir hier ankamen hatte ich schon über ein erfrischendes Bad im Fluss nachgedacht, das lass ich jetzt wohl lieber.
