Day 492 - Stopover in a magical forest
We weren’t sure whether to come here at all or not because the „Reserva Natural Cañon Del Río Claro“ is a typical „Lonely Planet destination“ and therefore we reckoned there would be more backpackers than we prefer. Good thing we did go because in the end there was hardly anyone there and we could enjoy the Cañon mostly by ourselves. It’s only on the weekends that the city dwellers come in by the busloads to relax in this beautiful reserve.
The camping area is located at the entrance of the reserve and seemed to be too far away from everything else. Also, we were not allowed to park the bikes in the same place where we camped which is totally unacceptable. It’s possible to park next to the restaurant so we decided to take advantage and just sit it out. At 8 o’clock it was pitch black (there was also a blackout) and everyone went home. We pitched our tent amongst the tables and spent the night in the restaurant. That had two advantages. First, we did’t get wet in the rain that poured down during the night and secondly we were forced to get an early start and leave before the employees would show up at 7:00 in the morning. That suits us well because to our next destination Villa de Leyva it’s about 250km of which more or less 150km are offroad.

Tag 492 - Zwischenstopp im Zauberwald
Wir waren uns nicht sicher ob wir wirklich hier her kommen wollten oder nicht, da es sich beim „Reserva Natural Cañon Del Río Claro“ um eine typische „Lonely Planet Destination“ handelt und wir daher mit mehr Backpackern rechneten als uns lieb sind. Gut, dass wir trotzdem hergefahren sind, denn letztendlich waren wir fast alleine hier und konnten die herrliche Landschaft und den Cañon ausgiebig genießen. Anscheinend kommen nur am Wochenende busweise die Städter um sich in dem wunderschönen Reservat zu erholen.
Der Campingbereich der Anlage gleich hinterm Eingang schien uns dann allerdings doch etwas zu weit ab vom Schuss. Außerdem hätten wir die Motorräder nicht neben dem Zelt parken dürfen was einfach inakzeptabel ist. Neben dem Restaurant darf man aber parken, also beschlossen wir die Sache auszusitzen. Als es um 8 stockfinster war (der Strom war auch ausgefallen) und alle gegangen waren haben wir eifach zwischen den Tischen unser Zelt aufgebaut und dort genächtigt. Das hatte den Vorteil, dass wir im nächtlichen Regenscheur nicht nass wurden und außerdem waren wir gezwungen am nächsten Morgen früh aufzubrechen, noch bevor das Personal um 7:00 Uhr ankommen würde. Und das passte recht gut, denn bis zu unserem nächsten Ziel Villa de Leyva sind es 250km, von denen allerdings gut 150km Offroad-Strecke sind.
