The rest of the year Antigua is also a wonderful place to visit. The 500 year old town is situated in a valley surrounded by 3 gigantic volcanos. It used to be the capital of the Spanish colonies in Central America and is a true show-piece of a city and definitely not representative for Guatemala. Completely renovated colourful rows of houses, countless churches, fountains and parks blaze with colonial charm. Heaps of nice restaurants, cafes and shops can be found everywhere and invite to linger for a while.

Antigua ist auf jeden Fall auch im restlichen Jahr ein wunderbarer Ort. Die 500 Jahre alte ehemalige Hauptstadt der spanischen Kolonien Zentralamerikas liegt in einem Tal umringt von 3 riesigen Vulkanen. Es ist ein wahres Vorzeige-Städtchen und definitiv nicht repräsentativ für Guatemala. Komplett sanierte bunte Häuserreihen, etliche Kirchen, Brunnen und Plätze versprühen kolonialen Charm. An jeder Ecke gibt es nette Restaurants, Cafes und Lädchen die zum Verweilen einladen.
